GREAT NEWS

Dear Dear FiveWin user,

As you may remember, we promised you "important news" regarding the future of xHarbour, almost 6 months ago. After long and involved preparations, it is with great pleasure that we announce the formation of a commercial entity, dedicated to service, distribution, development and marketing of xHarbour and related products and services.

Our goal is to provide world-wide support and added value to xHarbour, and help xHarbour evolve to a commercial quality product, with dependable commercial support, and long term future!

The idea started in the later part of December 2002, in talks between Ron Pinkas, and Patrick Mast, and soon expanded to include most xHarbour active contributors and other key members of the xHarbour community, as well as 2 significant investors.

Early January 2003, we agreed to establish a corporation, aiming to give xHarbour its appropriate place in main stream development tools, much like our beloved Clipper at its time. The corporation was registered on January 30 2003, in the state of Nevada U.S., as "xHarbour.com Inc.".

Thank to our investors we have significant working capital, readily available for Administration, R&D, Production, Marketing. Our Preview Release will be available online as early as July 15th. It will offer standardized build, providing simplicity, the likes of CA-Clipper (R) and Blinker (R) utilizing our new xBuild utility. As early as August 15th. we'll start our Boxed distribution, with professional Manuals, CD, Installers, and Web based Update Wizards. Later this year we'll release our commercial grade xIDE, offering high degree of Delphi compatible Visual Designer, and Integrated Development Environment. xIDE will be available on Windows at first stage, with Linux support ASAP. More details on products and services can be found at this page: http://www.xHarbour.com/Products.

Each of our team members will be responsible for a given territory. All members and their territories can be found at the Distributor Partners page at http://www.xHarbour.com/DistributorPartners. Further all team members, as a group, will globally cover for each other.

We intend to establish a comprehensive support system, based on available internet technologies. Our service will be prompt and passionate, 24 hours a day, 6+ days a week. Service will be the center value of xHarbour.com, so as to create the highest level of reliability for our customers. We are confident in our ability to fulfill this strong promise, based on our track record of service, these past 18 months, plus the aid of financial backing. This financial support is critical in providing compensation for the huge investment of time required for the development and support of xHarbour. We believe that our enterprise will establish a true marriage of the best that open source has to offer, along with the strength stability and long term planning of commercial interest!

Secondary to the service core is a unique FUND, established for the purpose of offering monetary rewards to active xHarbour developers. The xHarbour.com FUND will offer primary incentive to High-Priority TODO items, and secondary general incentive for general contributions. This FUND was already used to help the development of a greatly improved DBFCDX, as well as a NEW SQLRDD, Internet Toolkit, and Documentation.

Rest assured that the free xHarbour CVS will continue to thrive as xHarbour.org (not .com) and anyone can continue using xHarbour as they do now without any commitment or relationship to the new commercial company. xHarbour.com will be offering added value and service for xHarbour, but we all remain committed to maintaining and growing the original Open Source project.

As of this announcement the www.xHarbour.com site is open for business, and we are already accepting Early Bird Orders, at reduced introductory prices. Additionally, the first 1000 xHarbour packages will include FREE T-Shirt!

More details are available at http://www.xHarbour.com and will be announced there as they come available. As always, your valuable input is welcome!

Enthusiastically yours,

Ron Pinkas, Patrick Mast and the xHarbour.com Team.

We have a NEW POLL!
We have noticed that our previous poll was tampered (again...). So, next polls will have a IP check to discourage tampering.
Who would have thought that this was necessary... ;-(

Antonio Linares and Ignacio Ortiz have set an agreement on there disputes over FiveWin.
FiveWin users will now be able to freely use OZS Software commercial products like there are: X-browse, ODBC Direct and the Date Time picker. These products will NOT be included in the next FiveWin versions. All other classes or functions developed by Ignacio will still be available in the next versions of FiveWin.
We at FiveWin.info find this very good news for the FiveWin users.
