GREAT NEWS

Dear Dear FiveWin user,

As you may remember, we promised you "important news" regarding the future of xHarbour, almost 6 months ago. After long and involved preparations, it is with great pleasure that we announce the formation of a commercial entity, dedicated to service, distribution, development and marketing of xHarbour and related products and services.

Our goal is to provide world-wide support and added value to xHarbour, and help xHarbour evolve to a commercial quality product, with dependable commercial support, and long term future!

The idea started in the later part of December 2002, in talks between Ron Pinkas, and Patrick Mast, and soon expanded to include most xHarbour active contributors and other key members of the xHarbour community, as well as 2 significant investors.

Early January 2003, we agreed to establish a corporation, aiming to give xHarbour its appropriate place in main stream development tools, much like our beloved Clipper at its time. The corporation was registered on January 30 2003, in the state of Nevada U.S., as "xHarbour.com Inc.".

Thank to our investors we have significant working capital, readily available for Administration, R&D, Production, Marketing. Our Preview Release will be available online as early as July 15th. It will offer standardized build, providing simplicity, the likes of CA-Clipper (R) and Blinker (R) utilizing our new xBuild utility. As early as August 15th. we'll start our Boxed distribution, with professional Manuals, CD, Installers, and Web based Update Wizards. Later this year we'll release our commercial grade xIDE, offering high degree of Delphi compatible Visual Designer, and Integrated Development Environment. xIDE will be available on Windows at first stage, with Linux support ASAP. More details on products and services can be found at this page: http://www.xHarbour.com/Products.

Each of our team members will be responsible for a given territory. All members and their territories can be found at the Distributor Partners page at http://www.xHarbour.com/DistributorPartners. Further all team members, as a group, will globally cover for each other.

We intend to establish a comprehensive support system, based on available internet technologies. Our service will be prompt and passionate, 24 hours a day, 6+ days a week. Service will be the center value of xHarbour.com, so as to create the highest level of reliability for our customers. We are confident in our ability to fulfill this strong promise, based on our track record of service, these past 18 months, plus the aid of financial backing. This financial support is critical in providing compensation for the huge investment of time required for the development and support of xHarbour. We believe that our enterprise will establish a true marriage of the best that open source has to offer, along with the strength stability and long term planning of commercial interest!

Secondary to the service core is a unique FUND, established for the purpose of offering monetary rewards to active xHarbour developers. The xHarbour.com FUND will offer primary incentive to High-Priority TODO items, and secondary general incentive for general contributions. This FUND was already used to help the development of a greatly improved DBFCDX, as well as a NEW SQLRDD, Internet Toolkit, and Documentation.

Rest assured that the free xHarbour CVS will continue to thrive as xHarbour.org (not .com) and anyone can continue using xHarbour as they do now without any commitment or relationship to the new commercial company. xHarbour.com will be offering added value and service for xHarbour, but we all remain committed to maintaining and growing the original Open Source project.

As of this announcement the www.xHarbour.com site is open for business, and we are already accepting Early Bird Orders, at reduced introductory prices. Additionally, the first 1000 xHarbour packages will include FREE T-Shirt!

More details are available at http://www.xHarbour.com and will be announced there as they come available. As always, your valuable input is welcome!

Enthusiastically yours,

Ron Pinkas, Patrick Mast and the xHarbour.com Team.

Antonio Linares and Ignacio Ortiz have set an agreement on there disputes over FiveWin.
FiveWin users will now be able to freely use OZS Software commercial products like there are: X-browse, ODBC Direct and the Date Time picker. These products will NOT be included in the next FiveWin versions. All other classes or functions developed by Ignacio will still be available in the next versions of FiveWin.
We at FiveWin.info find this very good news for the FiveWin users.

2003/03/01
The "GrupoSP / Antonio Linares" news IS good news, but not THE good news I had for you guys. So, be prepared, we STILL have good news to be announced!
Ok, I know, I have been saying this for a few weeks now, but hey, it is a LOT of work to prepare what we have for you. ;-)

2003/02/28
Good news for all FiveWin users!
Grupo SP and Antonio Linares signed a cooperation contract that gives Antonio Linares the freedom of developing, selling and supporting ALL FiveWin versions for the following 5 years.
Also, note that the new URL to Antonio's FiveWin site is now www.FiveTechSoft.com.
The FiveWin newsgroups are still at news.FiveTech.com.

2003/02/16
FiveTech Software will make a announcement this next week that will guaranty a long life and quality to FWH users. Stay tuned. Also, notice that the new URL for FiveTechsoft is now http://www.FiveTechSoft.com

2003/02/03
There is a message on the FiveTech.com newsgroup saying that Antonio Linares LOST the intellectual property of FiveWin to the Spanish Grupo SP. GrupoSP wants to put FiveWin code on open source. More news to come...

2003/01/28
I will be out the country for the next week to discuss and steer to a bright future for the xbase world! Please keep your eyes focused, as we will be announcing our plans very soon! ;-))

2003/01/19
The FiveTech.com news server is back online at news.FiveTech.com as of today.

2003/01/18

2003/01/14
Any news on the FiveTech front? Actually, not much..
The FiveTech news server was down for a short while, but I suspect it to be a server problem. Ignacio promised me to keep the FiveTech.com's news servers up and running.
The FWH Open Source project is not yet up and running on SourceForge. It seems that it is VERY busy at SourceForge.net, so, lets wait for a few days.
I also want to thank everyone who did send me a mail to support me and the FiveWin.info site. Thanks again! And, let it be clear, the FiveWin.info site is their for the FiveWin USERS! I highly respect Antonio and Ignacio as brilliant programmers, but the only side I can chooses is the side of the FiveWin users. I will always be ready to help you guys! ;-)
Patrick Mast

2003/01/12
Dear FiveWinners,

Because I got so many concerning mails with questions about FiveWin and my relations with FiveTech, I want to make my position clear here.

As you all know, I have been a FiveWin supporter for many years. The FiveWin.info site is the result of many years hard work on the field. In those years I have made MANY friends among the FiveWin community. To many to mention here ;-)

Let it be clear, I HAVE or NEVER HAD ANY business relations with FiveTech, or any members of FiveTech.

I WILL NOT take any side in the problems between Antonio and Ignacio. They are both my friends and I like to keep it this way
.

So, bottom point, my position in FiveWin will NOT CHANGE and will be as usual, neutral. I will still be the helping hand for ALL FiveWin users, like I always was.

To keep my neutral position, I will NOT set up FiveWin newsgroups at FiveWin.info. *IF* and only *IF* FiveTech.com's newsgroups will go down, I will set them up at FiveWin.info, so FiveWin users still will have a place to gather.

I'm very sorry if I gave people the wrong impression of me choosing a side in the FiveTech's dispute. I choose the side of the FiveWin users! ;-))

If you want to react on this, please feel free to mail me.

Patrick Mast

We still have NO news about Antonio Linares. His email address alinares@fivetech.com has been temporary shut down. FiveWin is still NOT a open source project at SourceForge.net.

2003/01/09
We still have no news from Antonio Linares. As for now, FiveWin is NOT yet open source. As soon as we have any news, we will report it here.
Let me also take this opportunity to express my sad feelings to the former FiveTech members and their families. Lets hope that the future brings them more prosperity.

Please, change your FiveTech.com's newsserver settings to "news.ozs.com". OZS.com is Ignacio's server.

Update in FiveTech and FiveWin's future.
I have been talking to Ignacio and he has promised me that ALL FiveWin customers will KEEP getting their support. The FiveTech.com newsgroups will still be online. They are managed by Ignacio himself.
IF necessary, we at FiveWin.info, will setup new newsgroups for all FiveWin users. So, bottom point is, we all HAVE a FiveWin, nobody can take THAT away from us. We also are a very close community and every FiveWin users is willing to help another FiveWin user, I'm SURE of that.
I will also try to get in contact with Antonio to hear his vision. I will keep updating on this matter via this forum.

2003/01/08
Today Antonio announced on the Harbour-developers list that he will be making FiveWin for Harbour OPEN SOURCE, and that it will be available on SourceForge. This is his message.
He also announced that Ignacio Ortiz de Zúñiga, his partner in FiveTech, has left the company. Lets wait and see what the next following days will bring us. To be continued...
